Hi, I’m Michael Farrington,
I’m a fourth-generation Coloradan and I’ve been a student, a renter, and a transit user in our communities so I know the status quo isn’t working.
I grew up here in Commerce City, and I understand the challenges families face when buses don’t show up or when the system doesn’t feel safe. That’s why I’m running to represent District K on the RTD Board because transit should work for people. Reliable, safe, and affordable service connects us to our jobs, schools, churches, and services, while also supporting housing choices and helping families stay in their communities.
As a law student at the University of Colorado, I focused on land use, housing, and how laws shape community growth. I’ve worked in the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel and clerked for law firms, tackling tough policy and legal issues around transit and housing. Today I help cities navigate complex land use and legal questions, all experience I’ll put to work fixing RTD.
I also co-founded YIMBY North Metro, a housing group that pushes for more homes and walkable neighborhoods. I believe housing and transit must work together. Stronger transit helps lower housing costs, reduce displacement, and give people the freedom to live closer to the places they need to go.
I’m from Commerce City with my wife Kassidy and our dog Zeus. On the RTD Board I will fight for common sense changes: more frequent bus service, safer and more walkable stations, and an agency that puts riders first.
